Keep the conversation on the work

Comment right on the run, step, or workflow you're talking about — and pull the right teammate in with an @mention. The discussion lives next to the task, and Manifestly makes sure the people who need to see it actually do.

The account number on the invoice doesn't match our records. @priya can you confirm before I approve?

Good catch — vendor sent an updated one. Attaching it now.

Stop hunting for context across five apps

When a question about a task lives in someone's inbox or a Slack channel, the answer gets lost the moment the run moves on. Comments keep the discussion attached to the exact run or step it's about — so the next person to open it sees the whole story.

Scattered conversation
  • "Did we ever hear back on step 3?"
  • Context buried in email chains
  • New assignee starts from zero
On the work
  • Questions and answers on the step itself
  • @mention pulls in exactly who's needed
  • The full thread travels with the run

Talk to your team in three steps

1

Open any run, step, or workflow and type a comment right where the work is. Attach an image or screenshot if it helps make the point.

2

@mention a teammate

Type @ and pick a name. You can mention people already on the run or anyone else in the department — the mention pulls them in.

3

They get notified

Manifestly reaches each person on the channel they've chosen — email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, SMS, or an in-app notification — with a link straight back to the comment.

Name a name, and they'll know

Type @ and a picker offers the people on the run first, then everyone else in the department. Choose a name and it drops in as @username. When you post, everyone you mentioned is notified — even if they weren't already following that run.

  • Mention teammates who aren't on the run to bring them into the loop.
  • Mention several people in one comment — each gets their own notification.
  • A mention takes priority, so people aren't double-pinged for the same comment.

Comment wherever the work lives

On a step

Ask a question or note a blocker on the exact task it's about. Step comments can show inline as the run is worked.

On a run

Talk about the whole run in progress — status, handoffs, or a heads-up for everyone participating.

On a workflow

Leave feedback on the template itself — a suggested wording change or a question for the workflow's owner.

Reach people where they already are

A comment or mention doesn't just sit in Manifestly waiting to be noticed. It fans out to the channels your team actually watches — and each person decides which of those they want to hear on.

  • Each teammate controls notifications per channel from their own settings.
  • Every notification links straight back to the comment in context.

A real back-and-forth, not a dead end

Reply to a comment to keep a thread together, attach a screenshot when words aren't enough, and — because every comment notification is a normal email — your team can even reply straight from their inbox and have it land back on the run.

  • Reply to a comment and the original participants are pre-mentioned for you.
  • Attach an image or screenshot right on the comment.
  • Reply by email — your response posts back as a comment automatically.
  • Every comment is recorded in the run's activity for a clear trail.

@priya can you re-send the corrected invoice?

Done — here's v2.

What teams talk about in comments

Clean handoffs

Pass work between people without a status meeting.

"@sam picking this up — everything you need is in step 4's comment."

Flag a blocker

Raise a problem on the exact step it's blocking.

"Can't proceed until legal signs off — @jordan is that in progress?"

Answer questions in place

Keep the answer attached to the work forever.

"Which template do we use for renewals? @dana" — answered once, visible to everyone after.

Comments & @mentions, answered

On an individual step, on a whole run in progress, or on a workflow template. Comments stay attached to whatever you commented on, so the discussion travels with the work.

Type @ and start a name. Manifestly suggests the people on the run first, then others in the department. Pick someone and they're added as @username — when you post, they're notified, even if they weren't already following the run.

Email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, SMS, and in-app notifications. Each teammate chooses which channels they want to hear on from their own notification settings, so people aren't over-notified.

Yes. Comment notification emails accept replies — whatever you write back is posted as a comment on the same run, so you can keep the conversation going without opening the app.

Yes. You can add an image or screenshot to a comment — useful for sharing proof, a corrected document, or exactly what you're looking at.

No. Comments and @mentions work on their own with email and in-app notifications. Connecting Slack (or Microsoft Teams) simply adds those as extra delivery channels for people who prefer them.
